Cheshunt`s population is approximately 52000 and the town is one of the closest parts of Hertfordshire to the centre of London located just 13 miles from Charing Cross. In the late 1950s Lotus Cars and Team Lotus moved their premises near the town and later in 1963 and 1965 won their first constructor championships. The River Lee that passes through the town was once used for many years for transport of flowers and crops to London markets. An interesting fact is that the town is the birth place of the pop singer Cliff Richard. The young Princess Elizabeth later Queen Elizabeth I lived once in the town in 1548 and later Richard Cromwell, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth died there in 1712.
